Saraya: 2022 Biography, Net Worth, Family, Income

Saraya Jade Bevis also known simply as Saraya was born on 17 August 1992 in Norwich, UK. She is a British professional wrestler, and former WWE Superstar who is currently signed to AEW.

Saraya was born into the wrestling business. Her mother and father are both wrestling promoters, trainers and professional wrestlers themselves. So, it came as no surprise when she entered the family business in 2005 at the tender age of 13.

As Britani Knight, she toured the British and European independent circuit with her mother, Saraya Knight, often teaming up as the Knight Dynasty. During her time on the European scene, she won multiple championships from multiple promotions such as Swiss Championship Wrestling, German Stampede Wrestling and Pro Wrestling EVE.

In 2011 Saraya headed stateside and appeared for SHIMMER Women Athletes where she once again teamed with her mother but was this time managed by the future Becky Lynch, Rebecca Knox. Later that same year Saraya impressed WWE talent scouts during a try-out in England and was signed to a developmental deal and joined FCW a few months later.

In FCW she adopted the ring name, Paige and the Anti-Diva gimmick which would become her trademark. Her unique look, attitude and wrestling style, broke the “diva” mould. Saraya’s pale skin, jet black hair and Dr Martin boots were a far cry from the Diva’s look that had dominated WWE women’s wrestling for years.

She was immediately placed into a title programme with FCW Divas Champion, Raquel Diaz (Shaul Guerrero) but was unsuccessful in her challenge. The territory disbanded in 2012 and became NXT where Paige continued to grow and evolve.

In NXT, Paige entered the tournament to determine the first NXT Women’s Champion. She defeated Tamina Snuka in the opening round and Alicia Fox in the second enroute to her ground-breaking finals match with Emma. The bout, in which she defeated Emma to become the inaugural champion ushered in a new era for women’s wrestling in WWE and began her 308-day run as the NXT Women’s Champion.

Paige would defend the title three times against Summer Rae, Natalya and Emma before having to vacate it due to her main roster commitments. While NXT Women’s Champion Paige made her surprise Raw debut after WrestleMania XXX, to challenge and defeat Divas Champion AJ Lee in what was a major shock.

Events would continue to shock as AJ Lee regained the title a few months later. After the match, Paige would befriend her opponent and team up with her on a few occasions until she turned on Lee setting up another title challenge at SummerSlam. The event, which took place on Paige’s 22nd birthday, she became Divas Champion for the second and final time.

After losing the title again Lee a few weeks later at Night of Champions she entered a feud with Nikki and Brie Bella. The rivalry saw several matches that only lasted a matter of minutes. The obvious lack of focus on the Divas division caused fans to hijack WWE’s social media channels with the hashtag #GiveDivasAChance.

On the July 13th, 2015 episode of Raw, Stephanie McMahon called for a revolution in the division and introduced Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks. The inclusion of the NXT trio did indeed revolutionise women’s wrestling but unfortunately, a serious neck injury forced Paige to take a lengthy hiatus from the company throughout 2016.

Her return in November 2017 saw her lead Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville in a faction known as Absolution. However, he suffered another neck injury just a month later which ended her in-ring career. Despite this the British star continued to perform in a number of non-physical roles.

Paige returned to television as SmackDown Live General Manager shortly after her retirement to promote the movie about her life, Fighting With My Family. Her GM role stopped in 2018 but she returned as manager of the Kabuki Warriors before seeing out the remainder of her contract away from WWE programming.

At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam on September 21, 2022 Saraya made her surprise debut for the promotion and immediately started a feud with Britt Baker. After revealing she had been 100% cleared to wrestle Saraya will face Baker in her first match in five years.
