Saraya Loses AEW Women’s World Title

Saraya entrance at AEW Grand Slam

It was a rough night for Saraya on AEW Dynamite.

On “Title Tuesday” the British star took on Hikaru Shida, but her plans to thwart the former champion fell apart.

Saraya had the best of the early going, and despite a fightback from Shida, things seemed to be going her way when Ruby Soho interfered by spraying Shida with her spray can. However, ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm rushed to the ring and attacked Soho with her shoe. As the pair brawled through the crowd, Saraya took control once again, but it wasn’t to last.

Shida survived two Knight Caps, more spray, and narrowly escaped an attack with a kendo stick. The end of the match came from nowhere as the pair traded pins with Shida managing to pick up the three-count and the Women’s Title.

With victory, Shida has became the first three-time Women’s Champion in AEW history.

Saraya Wasn’t The Only Champion Dethroned On Dynamite

Elsewhere on the show, Orange Cassidy regained the International Championship by overcoming Rey Fenix.

Heading into Dynamite on October 10th, Rey Fenix had been scheduled to defend the gold against Jon Moxley. Fenix pinned Moxley at Grand Slam in controversial circumstances after the former World Champion suffered a concussion during the match.

Jon Moxley had been scheduled to retain but changed the finish of the match in the ring.

After a back-and-forth encounter, Cassidy got the win following an Orange Punch and Mouse Trap pin. The loss ended Fenix’s unplanned reign at just 20 days.

The episode also saw a controversial promo from Juice Robinson aimed at MJF.
