AEW Women’s Championship To “Change Hands” At All In

Hikaru Shida wins AEW Women's Title

Hikaru Shida looks set to have a short reign as AEW Women’s Champion.

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the title is speculated to change hands with either of the three challengers of Saraya, Toni Storm or Britt Baker having a good chance of walking out of Wembley Stadium as the new champion.

The argument for Baker winning the championship is that she was the first female wrestler signed to the company and has been away from the title for an extended period of time, making the title win on the biggest show of the year a landmark moment for the company.

Taking place in her home country and being the only British wrestler on the card challenging for a championship, Saraya is also said to have a good chance of winning the gold for the first time in her career. However, it is mentioned that injuries and time away from the ring may lower Saraya’s chances compared to the other challengers.

Storm is also believed to have a shot to win it back so that a title change does take place at All In to pop the crowd. Regardless of whoever wins the match, it is said to be unlikely that Shida will retain the championship.

Hikaru Shida Hopes To Remain Two-Time AEW Women’s Champion

Shida captured the title for a second time on the August 2nd 200th episode of AEW Dynamite, defeating the only other member of the roster to hold the title twice, Toni Storm. The inaugural reign came when Shida defeated Nyla Rose at the 2020 Double or Nothing pay-per-view in a No Disqualification match. Shida held onto the championship for a record 372 days before dropping the title to Britt Baker at the same event the following year.
