SEGA To Sponsor Major Chris Jericho Match In AEW

Chris Jericho SEGA

SEGA is reportedly sponsoring an upcoming tag team match involving Chris Jericho.

On the November 1st episode of Dynamite, Don Callis challenged Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega to take on the Don Callis Family in a 4 on 4 street fight. Omega declared that he would be bringing in Kota Ibushi to join them in their fight, while Jericho made mention of the fact that he’d recruited a giant to join them, someone who’s even bigger than Powerhouse Hobbs.

This brought out a returning Paul Wight, who knocked out Kyle Fletcher with one punch. It was later announced that Jericho, Omega, Ibushi, and Wight would be facing Callis’ stable on the November 15th episode of Dynamite.

Days before the bout, Chris Jericho dealt a major blow to the Don Callis Family when he defeated Komosuke Takeshita at DDT Ultimate Party 2023.

AEW has had major sponsorship tie-ins in the past, notably the recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch held in August. According to a recent report from Fightful Select, the blockbuster 8 man street fight on November 15th is also expected to have a major sponsorship element to it, and the company involved has been revealed to be SEGA.

Concerns Over Paul Wight’s Involvement In SEGA-Sponsored AEW Match

Speaking on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that there are concerns over Paul Wight becoming physically involved in a match after his recent appearance in OVW.

I heard that when Paul Wight was back in OVW just a couple of weeks ago. And you know, I think guest ring announcer or something like that, [he] made a guest appearance. And I heard that his movement was not good. And, you know, he stood there, he had big braces on his knee. Yeah, he’s a big guy, and he’s 51 years old. And he’s had, you know, all kinds of knee problems and other problems.

But, you know, I mean, again, he probably only has to come in for, you know, I mean look who he is teaming with, he’s probably only going to have to come in for short spurts and everything, but I mean he did throw the one punch, but that was it, but he was not moving.
