Matt Riddle Hints At MMA Return: “I’ll Get Business Done”

Matt Riddle Shares Cryptic Post Following WWE Exit

Matt Riddle isn’t ruling out a return to MMA following his release from WWE.

On September 22nd, Matt Riddle confirmed that he had been released from WWE. Following his release, he’s already been announced for multiple independent appearances. Riddle will be facing Rob Van Dam at Big Time Wrestling in March and appearing at MCW Winter Blast in February.

Prior to his time in professional wrestling, Matt Riddle was an accomplished MMA fighter, and some fans wonder if he might be returning to the cage during his free agency. Speaking to MMA Junkie, Riddle addressed his plans for the future.

“Yeah, I’ll say this. There’s been a lot of talk; I’ve been talking to a couple of promotions. I don’t want to get into it until it’s official, but I think 2024 is a very big possibility that get back in the ring or cage and fight again.”

When asked specifically about a return to UFC, the star said he’s willing to do business if there’s business to be done. Riddle was released from UFC back in 2013 after testing positive for marijuana on two occasions within the year.

“Never say never, right? I don’t really hold a grudge. I talk a lot of trash, but that’s about it. So if there’s business to be had, I’ll get business done.”

“For me, there’s no things that really needs mending. [Dana White] had his decision, I had mine. He went his way, I went my way and I had great success. For me, there’s no problem. It’s just a matter of he’d want me to work for him again.”

When Was Matt Riddle’s Last WWE Match?

Matt Riddle’s final bout in WWE came on the September 4th edition of Monday Night Raw. On that occasion, he teamed with Drew McIntyre to take on The Viking Raiders in a losing effort.

Later that week, Riddle was involved in an incident at the JFK airport after arriving home from Superstar Spectacle in India. On September 9th, Riddle was confronted by officers over disorderly behavior but was eventually released without charge.

In the aftermath of the incident, Riddle made a now-deleted post on social media accusing one of the officers involved of sexual assault. This led the Port Authority to launch an investigation into the event, saying they take such accusations very seriously.

Riddle was absent from both the September 11th and September 18th episodes of Raw, though his absence on the 11th was reportedly due to illness. He announced that he had been released from the company on September 22nd.

According to reports, the star had too many slip-ups with the company prior to his JFK airport incident. This reportedly included a second wellness policy violation back in December.

Matt Riddle’s partner Misha Montana recently gave birth to the couple’s first child together.
