It was AEW Dynamite featuring three Continental Classic matches as the round-robin portion came to an end for the Gold League.

This episode took place at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The announcers were Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz.

Match #1: Continental Classic Gold League Match – Swerve Strickland defeated Rush by pinfall. Swerve hit a flatliner, brainbuster and a House Call kick to the head. Swerve jumped off the top with the Swerve Stomp (double foot stomp) for the pinfall win.

That win means Swerve is 4-1 with 12 points while Rush finished at 2-3 with 6 points and is not advancing in the Continental Classic. Swerve moves on depending on how the Moxley-White match goes in the main event.

Chris Jericho did a backstage promo about Kenny Omega being out of action indefinitely due to diverticulitis. Jericho spoke about how that means their Tag Team Title match against Ricky Starks & Big Bill is on hold for now. Jericho said when Kenny comes back, Jericho will be waiting for him and the Golden Jets will resume. Jericho did the Omega-like “goodnight and goodbye…bang…but only for now.”

Match #2: Continental Classic Gold League Match – Mark Briscoe defeated Jay Jay Lethal by pinfall. Mark hit the Jay Driller for the win.

Post match, Mark Briscoe and Jey Lethal shook hands. Mark Briscoe ended the Continental Classic at 1-4 with 3 points and Jay Lethal went 0-5 with 0 points.

A video aired about AEW World Champion MJF being inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame this past Monday.

Wardlow was featured in a video saying this has always been a battle between good and evil. Wardlow said we are getting closer to MJF’s world ending. Wardlow claimed that the payment for MJF’s sins cannot be delayed any longer and Wardlow said he’ll be the one to bring The Devil to his knees.

Samoa Joe did a promo questioning AEW World Champion MJF possibly being The Devil since we never saw MJF get beat up. MJF arrived to say that the masked guys didn’t attack Joe when they were around him. MJF wanted to fight Joe.

The masked men appeared but were easily taken out by MJF & Joe. Four more masked men appeared after that. The lights went out and The Devil appeared on screen with this text message: “Where can you go? Who can you trust? Next week will you accept a challenge for the ROH Tag Team Championships? Are you a hero, Max?” The masked men disappeared from ringside. MJF and Joe accepted the ROH Tag Team Title match challenge.

Match #3: Riho defeated Saraya by pinfall. Riho won with a double knee attack for the win. The win means that Riho will challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Title at Worlds End on December 30th.

After the match, Toni Storm got into the ring with Riho, who brought the fight to Storm. Mariah May went into the ring and hit Riho with the AEW Women’s Title to help Storm.

Tony Schiavone appeared on the stage saying that he had a statement from Christian Cage. Tony read the letter as Cage saying that Cage took Nick Wayne on vacation. Cage claimed he would return this Saturday on AEW Collision to respond to Adam Copeland, who issued a No DQ Match challenge for Worlds End. Cage said he expects nothing less than a hero’s welcome upon his return.

MJF was arguing with Samoa Joe backstage and Joe went into a room. MJF found a black mask on the ground outside of the Mogul Embassy’s locker room. MJF and Swerve Strickland had a long chat with MJF accusing Swerve of being The Devil.

Swerve mentioned MJF used to drive him around when they were in the indies. MJF said that he is the big bad wolf of professional wrestling. MJF said he’ll break both of Swerve’s arms so he can always swerve while he drives. Swerve warned MJF about messing with him and the door opened with Swerve’s buddies in there. Samoa Joe re-emerged to say that he had business with MJF to take care of, so Joe & Max left.

Match #4: Roderick Strong defeated Komander by pinfall. Strong tossed Komander into the air and hit him with double knees to win.

After the match, Strong and The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) had signs that said “MJF is The Devil.” Strong did a quick interview with Renee Paquette saying that Hangman mentioned The Devil and Hangman was attacked. Strong wanted Samoa Joe to believe him. Strong claimed that Samoa Joe was his best friend by proxy.

The legendary Jim Ross was on commentary for the main event replacing Tony Schiavone. JR was in his home state of Oklahoma.

Match #5: Continental Classic Gold League Match – Jay White defeated Jon Moxley by pinfall. Moxley was selling a left knee injury throughout the match and White used a chair to the knee that the referee never saw. White won clean with the Bladerunner.

The win by Jay White means he is 4-1 with 12 points in the Continental Classic and Moxley had the same record.

That means that next week on AEW Dynamite in the Gold League finals it’s Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland vs. Jay White since they all have 12 points.

Swerve Strickland appeared on the ramp at the end of the show for a long distance staredown with White and Moxley. When Moxley got up, White hit him with a chop block to knock him back down. That was the end of the show.

Next Week On AEW Dynamite:

* Continental Classic Gold League Final: Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland vs. Jay White

* Continental Classic Blue League Final. The competitors in that match will be known after Saturday’s AEW Collision episode.

That’s all for this week.
