Ronda Rousey has confirmed her departure from WWE.

Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, Rousey acknowledged SummerSlam opponent Shayna Baszler while posting a series of photos from the final match.

“@qosBaszler you were the reason I got into this business… Now I got no reason to stay.”

The departure ends Rusey’s second stint with the company at just over 18 months, where the former Women’s Champion would return and win the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble. Following a loss to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38, the Rowdy One would ascend to the top of the mountain at WrestleMania Backlash, defeating The Queen to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Rousey would briefly lose the title to Liv Morgan via Money in the Bank cash-in but regained the championship at Extreme Rules. A returning Flair would defeat Rousey on the last SmackDown of 2022, ending Rousey’s final singles championship reign.

Rousey would later align with long-time friend Shayna Baszler, winning the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Comments from Rousey would be heavily criticised following the victory, where the Women’s Tag Team Division was described as “dismally shallow.”

The departure post by Rousey confirms reports that were circulating prior to SummerSlam, which stated that the former UFC Champion would be “leaving soon.”

In recent news, Ronda Rousey made her second independent wrestling appearance.

When Was Ronda Rousey’s Last WWE Match?

Completing the second run with the match she always wanted, Rousey faced off against Baszler in an MMA Rules match a SummerSlam, which Rousey would lose via technical submission. The match was said to have been hampered by creative issues from both sides, which affected how the match played out.

In recent news, Dave Meltzer has reported that Ronda Rousey has no interest in returning to either WWE or UFC.
