Ronda Rousey Vs. Shayna Baszler Impacted By Creative Issues

Ronda Rousey vs Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam was apparently impacted by creative differences between the competitors and WWE management.

Rousey and Baszler squared off in an MMA Rules Match at the WWE SummerSlam event held at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The match aimed to replicate an authentic MMA fight, featuring strikes, clinching against the ropes, and submission holds.

Throughout the bout, Shayna Baszler appeared to sustain an arm injury, prompting the medics to check on her. However, displaying her trademark fire, Rousey pushed away the medics, eager to continue the battle. The match ended with Baszler applying a rear naked choke, which caused Rousey to pass out, giving Baszler the victory via referee stoppage.

However, behind the scenes, there were reported issues between WWE creative and the two former UFC stars regarding the match’s layout. Dave Meltzer revealed during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that there were disagreements between WWE and Rousey and Baszler about how the match should have been executed.

The exact details of these issues were not disclosed, leaving fans to speculate on the creative differences that may have arisen. Meltzer said:

Ronda and Shayna wasn’t the best match. There were issues between WWE creative and them as far as how it was gonna go, and you don’t have knockdowns in an MMA fight and do ten counts, or whatever, but it’s like, you have some people stuck in one mentality of combat and others in another, and it kind of, I think that it kind of hurt that.

Is Ronda Rousey Leaving WWE?

It has been reported that Ronda Rousey may be leaving WWE soon, it had been reported that Rousey had given WWE a date which she will be leaving by and that date is apparently drawing ever closer.

Meltzer spoke on the same episode of Wrestling Observer Radio stating that he thinks that Rousey and Baszler’s match at SummerSlam could be “the end period” for Rousey in WWE.
