Details Of Scrapped WrestleMania Match Between The Rock & Brock Lesnar Revealed

WrestleMania 28

If The Rock didn’t get injured during his WWE WrestleMania 29 match against John Cena, then so much could be different in the modern wrestling landscape.

The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter shared further information about what the original plans were for The People’s Champion back in 2013 and 2014 following his loss to Cena at WrestleMania 29 in New York City. The Rock was vocal about the injuries he sustained during that match recently on the Pat McAfee Show which were so bad that they delayed the filming of Hercules. However, according to Dave Meltzer, if that didn’t happen, the plan was for The Rock to come back the following year to face the man who ended the streak of The UndertakerBrock Lesnar. The plan was to follow the formula of Rock vs. Cena where it would have been a year build between the two main eventers.

What Could Have Happened If Brock Lesnar Faced The Rock Instead Of The Undertaker At WrestleMania 30?

It’s difficult to speculate how much another match with The Rock would have elevated Brock Lesnar in comparison to The Beast defeating The Undertaker and being the “1 in 21-1” but that win certainly re-established Lesnar as a world-beater in WWE.

At WrestleMania 29, Lesnar suffered a loss to Triple H and his act wasn’t as fresh when he returned to annihilate John Cena back in 2012. Many expected Lesnar to be another notch in Undertaker’s belt and the build for the bout itself was forgettable, but Undertaker’s streak ending is what really put Lesnar back to prominence as a top draw.
