AEW Dynamite

It was the AEW Dynamite featuring a Sting announcement, the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale, an Adam Copeland interview and more.

This episode took place at the Fort Bend Epicenter in Rosenberg, Texas near Houston. The announcers were Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz.

Match #1: Jay White defeated Penta El Zero Miedo. The Gunns distracted the referee, Juice Robinson did a cheap punch to Penta and White hit the Bladerunner for the pinfall win.

MJF, the AEW World Champion, was interviewed backstage saying he’ll get his AEW World Title back that White stole. The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn walked up with Max Caster saying they can tag with MJF against White & Bullet Club gold. MJF turned Caster down again.

Match #2: Hikaru Shida defeated Emi Sakura by pinfall. It was not for Shida’s AEW Women’s Title. Shida won with a spinning knee strike for the pinfall win.

Adam Copeland did a lengthy sitdown interview with Renee Paquette earlier in the day. Adam wasn’t sure why Christian Cage was being so difficult. Adam came to AEW to team with Christian so they can end their careers together. Adam talked about his close friendship with Christian since they were kids, they are both Godfather’s to their daughters and best friends for life. Renee mentioned that perhaps Christian feels jealous of Adam. Adam said he didn’t want it to be Adam & Jay or E&C in the past. Adam thinks Jay is underappreciated as a pro wrestler. Toward the end, Adam was adamant that he didn’t want to wrestle Jay and he didn’t want the TNT Title. Adam said that eventually Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus will leave Christian high and dry, so when he hits the ground, Adam will be the one to pick him up.

Match #3: Wardlow defeated Ryan Nemeth with one Powerbomb for the knockout win.

After the match, Tony Schiavone went into the ring asking Wardlow what he was back for. Wardlow showed off his wrist tape saying “MJF.” Wardlow walked into Tony Schiavone and knocked him down.

Kenny Omega did an interview about his match coming up. MJF interrupted, said he admired Omega and they shook hands. MJF said to Omega: “13 days, bitch.” Omega said, “13 days, we’ll see about that.” The 13 days number is when MJF will pass Kenny Omega for the longest AEW World Title reign in company history. Omega was the AEW World Champion for 346 days.

There was another video from Roderick Strong’s house where Adam Cole and The Kingdom were hanging out with him. Cole made peanut butter & jam sandwiches. Strong complained about Cole not cutting the crust off. Cole left. Strong said maybe he has to be nice to MJF to get his best friend Cole back.

Don Callis did an in-ring promo with Powerhouse Hobbs and Konsuke Takeshita. Hobbs claimed that Chris Jericho was mean to him and Hobbs’ grandma in February 1998 at a show. Hobbs said he always thought he would make Jericho pay for it so that’s why he destroyed Jericho last week.

Match #4:Kenny Omega defeated Kyle Fletcher by pinfall. Fletcher put up a fight, but Omega was able to overcome it. Omega won by pinfall with the One Winged Angel for the pinfall win.

A video aired about Danhausen coming back soon. It will be very nice and very evil.

Match #5: Lance Archer defeated Barrett Brown in under two minutes with a Blackout slam for the pinfall win.

Sting did a lengthy promo in the ring. Sting spoke about his career while mentioning some of the big names he worked with. Sting thanked the likes of Dusty Rhodes, Hulk Hogan (who was booed) and Ric Flair. Sting spoke about how he loved performing for the fans. Sting said that he had his first AEW match at Revolution 2021 so he’s here to say he’ll have his retirement match at Revolution 2024. They did not announce the date of that show, but it’s usually a March PPV for AEW.

Nick Wayne and his mother were interviewed by Jim Ross. Nick said he had a new father figure better than his own dad, TNT Champion Christian Cage. Nick’s mom slapped her son in the face. Christian & Nick left the room where Darby Allin beat them up.

Out in the arena, Darby Allin beat up Nick Wayne and pulled a tooth or bloodied a tooth. Luchasaurus & Christian Cage got involved, so Sting saved Allin. Sting tried to put the Scorpion Deathlock on Sting, but Luchasaurus saved Christian from it.

Match #6: The Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale was won by Juice Robinson, last eliminating Max Caster. MJF was on commentary, but he was attacked by Jay White. MJF and White fought on the stage with Jay hitting a low blow. Caster is friends with MJF, so he was distracted and Juice hit Caster with a lefty punch while wearing a ring on his middle finger. Juice tossed out Caster to win.

The win by Juice means he’ll face MJF for the Dynamite Diamond Ring next week on AEW Dynamite. The show ended five minutes past the top of the hour so it was around 10:05 p.m. ET.
