A highly anticipated debut, a number one contenders match and more took place on AEW Rampage.
As is the case most weeks, the October 20th episode of AEW Rampage was pre-taped after the October 18th edition of Dynamite went off the air. Those in attendance have been able to provide spoilers to the event that took place at the taping. The spoilers have been obtained via F4WOnline.
Before Rampage:
- Adam Copeland appeared in front of the live crowd for a promo following Dynamite and before Rampage after appearing in a pre-taped segment during Dynamite.
Main Card:
- Mistico defeated Rocky Romero in a 2 out of 3 falls match – Mistico won the first fall via submission with a surfboard stretch. Romero won the second fall via pinfall with a sliced bread. Mistico won the third fall via submission with La Mistica. Mistico wins two falls to one.
- Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta defeated Bryan Keith and Exodus Prime.
- Ruby Soho defeated Skye Blue after interference from Saraya. Soho & Saraya attacked Blue after the match, but Kris Statlander made the save. The Outcasts attacked Statlander but there was miscommunication between them and Statlander stood tall.
- John Silver defeated Kip Sabian and Brother Zay to become the new number one contender for the International Championship. The title match will take place at Battle of the Belts VIII.
What Happened On AEW Dynamite?
Continuing to build tension between Bullet Club Gold and MJF, the main event saw the Diamond Dozen Battle Royal, where the winner would go on to face MJF for the Dynamite Diamond Ring on October 25th. The match was won by Juice Robinson, who last eliminated Max Caster.
The most newsworthy segment on Dynamite saw Sting address the audience. Approaching the 3-year anniversary of his signing with the promotion, Sting revealed when he will retire from in-ring competition.
