Tony Khan Blasts NXT "With All Respect"

"We've Come So Far From A Startup In A Parking Lot" - Tony Khan

Tony Khan’s social media activity doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.

Tony Khan has taken to social media to highlight the end of a surprising streak for both John Cena and The Undertaker.

Positing on Twitter, Khan would ‘respectfully’ highlight that going head-to-head with AEW on Tuesday signalled the end of a career long streak for both men.

“This week, 2 active decades-long ratings streaks from 2 great legends were ended.
With all due respect, until this week’s head-to-head AEW on TBS vs WWE on USA, neither John Cena nor Undertaker had ever been on a WWE show with under 1 million total viewers + under 400k in the demo”

Tony Khan is obviously referencing NXT’s victory over AEW in the October 10th ratings war, whilst claiming that it’s not as impressive as some want you to believe.

Bryan Danielson Agreed To Surprise International Appearance Before Injury

Bryan Danielson Bleeding

Bryan Danielson was scheduled to make an overseas appearance before an unfortunate injury derailed plans.

The American Dragon signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2021, making the surprise appearance at All Out. One of his motivations for joining AEW was the desire to wrestle in other promotions around the world.

Danielson was due to wrestle in another promotion in 2023, but not for New Japan as most people had expected. As revealed by AAA booker Konnan, Danielson was due to travel to Mexico and compete after Forbidden Door.

Speaking on Keeping It 100, Konnan stated how The American Dragon has wrestled for the promotion before and how he was interested in making a return.

NXT

NXT Defeats AEW In October 10th Ratings War

On October 10th WWE and AEW went head to head for the first time in well over a year as NXT and AEW Dynamite clashed in the 8pm EST time slot.

NXT loaded it’s show with main roster names such as The Undertaker, LA Knight, Cody Rhodes and more, whilst AEW stacked their show dubbing it AEW Title Tuesday featuring not one but two major title changes.

In the lead up to the shows Tony Khan took to Twitter to send a message to the WWE, whilst WWE management claimed that this head-to-head would remind people why AEW is AEW and the WWE is the WWE.

But in the end it was NXT who came out on top.

The ratings for NXT and AEW Dynamite dropped last night and it was a landslide victory for WWE, at least in the overall viewing figures.

NXT had 921,000 total viewers on average against AEW’s 609,000 – a 34% difference. Total viewership was up by 7% for NXT from the week previous (857,000) while total viewership for AEW was down by 24% (800,000).

As for the key demographic, NXT was watched by 396,000 average viewers aged 18-49 in comparison to AEW’s 346,000 – a 13% difference.

Bully Ray Blasts Seth Rollins

Bully Ray has criticised Seth Rollins over his selling on the latest episode of WWE Raw.

Bully Ray Critical Of Seth Rollins

In a recent episode of Raw, Seth Rollins walked out to the ring dancing and celebrating just days after his gruelling Last Man Standing Match against Shinsuke Nakamura.

This choice did not sit well with wrestling veteran Bully Ray, who expressed his disappointment on the Busted Open podcast.

Ray criticised WWE for downplaying the physical toll that Rollins had endured in his match with Nakamura.

He argued that the World Heavyweight Champion should have shown signs of the back injury he sustained, such as walking with a limp or visibly favouring his shoulder.

According to Ray, this lack of selling undermined the credibility of the match and the believability of Rollins’ injury.

Bray Wyatt’s plans for WrestleMania 39 had been well discussed prior to his tragic passing earlier this year.

With Wyatt initially set for a face off against Bobby Lashley, it has now been revealed that another, much more interesting match up, was initially set for WrestleMania 39.

Appearing on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, WWE Superstar Karrion Kross revealed that he and Bray Wyatt were slated to “do something” at WrestleMania 39 and that Bo Dallas, Alexa Bliss and Scarlett were even set to be involved.

“Fast forward, we were supposed to work last WrestleMania. Nobody knew that, except for a collection of writers and some people in the office. We were slated to do something. We would talk for hours about how we wanted to get into it, what we wanted to deliver creatively for people. Where we thought we both needed to be. We had ideas for Alexa [Bliss], Bo [Dallas], Scarlett, and then everything happened the way it did.” [h/t SE Scoops]

Raw

WWE Raw Could Leave Monday Nights

WWE Raw Sees Major Viewership Dropoff

Monday Night Raw has been a staple of WWE’s programming since it first aired on January 11th, 1993.

However, could RAW leave it’s iconic Monday night slot? According to Endeavour CEO Ari Emanuel… absolutely.

Speaking at Bloomberg’s Screentime conference, Endeavour and TKO CEO Ari Emanuel commented on the TV rights to RAW coming up for negotiation and the possibility of the show following SmackDown to a new network even if that means leaving Monday nights.

“There’s three rights coming available to market. Three big rights: WWE Raw, UFC, NBA. We are involved in two of them.

There’s six buyers, plus I would say WWE Network which is up in ‘26. I think I’m saying that — maybe ‘25, ‘26.

So, you cannot undervalue the WWE and UFC for the following reasons: One, we do not have a season. One of the biggest issues that will happen with s-mods and networks is churn. We’re 52 weeks a year, right? And we’re flexible.

You want us Thursday night? You want us Tuesday night? I don’t have any of those scheduling issues and that churn issue because we’re the full year.

It’s so much different than any other sport because then people churn out. That’s one of the issues with sports. Not in a bad way… and then the package is over and then you leave.

We do not have that. Our fans are loyal, they stick around and they move.” [h/t POST Wrestling]

Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon Responsible For TKO Stock Plummeting

Vince McMahon In Front Of A Red Wall With A Dinosaur Skull

In late September TKO stock plummeted a mammoth 12% following the WWE’s announcement that SmackDown would be leaving FOX.

However, according to a new comments from Ari Emanuel, Vince McMahon is, at least partially, responsible for the TKO stock plummeting.

Speaking at Bloomberg’s Screentime conference, Endeavour and TKO CEO Ari Emanuel commented on the stock price drop and WWE’s move to the USA Network.

Emanuel would state:

“I would say to you there’s plenty of interest in Raw, right now. I know people are like, ‘NBC is out of the mix’ and that’s why it went down.

I think there’s three things that happened. One, the reason the stock is down is they thought Raw was the best package. I saw 40 percent increase which was in line with expectations…

Two, the P.F.L. situation and three, probably Vince (McMahon) in our deal, wanted to be able to put, at any point in time, his stock.

He’s 78 years old. He’s been working at this for decades and decades so, I think those three back-to-back issues…” [h/t POST Wrestling]

WarGames Returning at WWE Survivor Series 2023

In recent weeks the talk surrounding Survivor Series 2023 has been discussing the possibility of CM Punk returning to the WWE on November 25th.

However, a new report has revealed that someone…or rather, something, else will be returning on the show.

A new report from Fightful Select has revealed that at least one WarGames match is currently “on the table” for Survivor Series 2023.

The report goes on to note that it was “heavily implied” that The Judgment Day would be part of the match but that anything is “far from confirmed.”

WWE hosted it’s first ever set of main roster WarGames matches at Survivor Series 2022 with The Bloodline (and Sami Zayn) taking on Kevin Owens, Drew McIntyre and The Brawling Brutes, meanwhile, Team Belair (Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Mia Yim and Becky Lynch) took on Team Damage CTRL (Bayley, Iyo Sky, Dakota Kai, Nikki Cross and Rhea Ripley).

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey Appears To Confirm Her Retirement

Ronda Rousey Has "No Interest" In Returning To WWE Or UFC

Ronda Rousey last competed in a WWE ring 68 days ago at SummerSlam 2023 and it appears this may have been the last time ‘The Baddest Woman On The Planet’ ever steps foot inside a wrestling ring again.

The UFC Hall of Famer now appears to have confirmed her retirement via Instagram

At 5pm on October 11th 2023, Rousey would take to Instagram to share photos of herself, husband Travis Browne and their daughter La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō.

It was the caption of the post however that has caught UFC and WWE fans attention.

Rousey would quote Disney’s own Bernie Lumen (from the hit film Elemental) stating that:

“Sorry, I couldn’t hear you through my retirement.”

It had been reported in recent months that Ronda Rousey was aiming to make a UFC return at UFC 300, however, UFC President Dana White has dismissed these reports on multiple occasions.

If Ronda Rousey has retired, where does she rank in the list of all time WWE greats? Let us know by getting involved and writing in using the form, here.

Tony Khan

Tony Khan Takes Aim At Vince McMahon's Sexual Misconduct Allegations

A split image of Vince McMahon dancing on a WWE stage and Tony Khan cutting a promo into an AEW microphone

Tony Khan has had social media on strings after a some peculiar Twitter activity in the lead up to AEW and NXT going head-to-head on October 10th, 2023.

In the lead up to AEW Title Tuesday, Tony Khan would mock Triple H and reference Vince McMahon’s removal from the company.

Now, following the news that NXT had beaten AEW Title Tuesday in the ratings, Tony Khan has taken aim at Vince McMahon’s sexual misconduct allegations.

Writing on social media, the AEW President would respond to a fan claiming that WWE did nothing wrong by using their “power and influence” to enhance NXT with the “aim” of defeating AEW in the ratings.

Khan would respond via quote tweet, commenting:

“Yes. Vince has allegedly used his power and influence to shoot a lot of shots.”

The comment is clearly in reference to recent allegations surrounding Vince McMahon involving reported hush money payment made to a former WWE employee whom he allegedly acted sexually inappropriately towards.

Full details of Vince McMahon’s alleged sexual misconduct can be found, here.
