Bryan Danielson Agreed To Surprising International Appearance Before Injury

Bryan Danielson Agreed To International Appearance Before Injury

Bryan Danielson was set to compete in a rare non-AEW appearance.

The American Dragon signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2021, making the surprise appearance at All Out. One of his motivations for joining AEW was the desire to wrestle in other promotions around the world.

Danielson was due to wrestle in another promotion in 2023, but not for New Japan as most people had expected. As revealed by AAA booker Konnan, Danielson was due to travel to Mexico and compete after Forbidden Door.

Speaking on Keeping It 100, Konnan stated how The American Dragon has wrestled for the promotion before and how he was interested in making a return:

“I talked to Bryan because we brought him once a long time ago, maybe 12 years ago. I saw him in AEW and I asked him if he wanted to do something in Mexico and he said yeah, I brought up a couple of people.”

Unfortunately, these plans were derailed when Danielson suffered a broken arm during his match against Kazuchika Okada at the crossover pay-per-view. Konnan revealed that the discussions stalled after the injury but expressed his intention to arrange a future appearance for Danielson in AAA:

“So, we never talked,” he said about the injury. “So, I gotta talk to him again.”

AEW and AAA have a history of talent exchanges, with wrestlers like QT Marshall and Kommander holding titles in AAA, showcasing the collaborative nature between the two promotions.

Bryan Danielson Continues To Tease International Appearances

Going on record that retirement is not far away, Danielson looks to check off as many dream matches and appearances as he can before stepping away from wrestling. When asked if an appearance in Japan is still a possibility for the future, Bryan Danielson responded “Never say never.”

Danielson’s first match on Dynamite saw him take on Kenny Omega in what was The American Dragon’s first-ever match rated five stars by Dave Meltzer. With the match ending in a draw, Bryan Danielson has made it clear that he wants a rematch against Kenny Omega.
