CM Punk & Jack Perry Suspended By AEW

CM Punk Jack Perry

CM Punk and Jack Perry have both been reportedly suspended by AEW.

The news was broken by Bryan Alvarez, who states that both men are being investigated over the events of All In and neither are expected to appear at All Out.

The belief within AEW is that Punk and Jack are both suspended pending the results of an investigation, which would mean neither will work All Out.

The news of Punk being absent from All Out will likely cause a major restructuring of the card, as the Second City Saint was likely to be featured prominently on the Chicago pay-per-view in front of his hometown fans one year on from the infamous events that took place at the show the previous year.

The suspensions added to the long list of injuries mean that even more top stars are off the card for All Out, once again causing Tony Khan to make last-minute changes so close to a major event.

In recent news, Dave Meltzer has revealed new information about Jack Perry’s scrapped glass spot for AEW Collision.

Why Have CM Punk & Jack Perry Been Suspended

Shortly before the main card for All In was due to go on the air, there was a backstage altercation between Punk and Perry. Tony Khan confirmed this at the start of the post-show press conference but stated that it is an ongoing investigation and would not answer any media enquiries regarding it.

The specifics of what actually happened backstage are still not entirely clear, as each side tells a slightly different story. It is believed that Punk was preparing for his match with Samoa Joe just behind the curtain as Perry was facing HOOK on the pre-show, with Perry arriving in the stadium in a limousine. Perry made a comment directly to the camera about real glass being present in the limo in reference to a previous argument with Punk at a Collision taping.

When the match was over Perry came to the back and came face-to-face with Punk. There was then reportedly shoving and Punk putting Perry in a chokehold, but no punches were thrown. It is then claimed by one side that both men were asked to leave the stadium, with the other side stating that only Perry was actually asked to leave and Punk voluntarily left.

Recently Mark Henry shared his thoughts on the incident in an interview, while Bully Ray believes Jack Perry would have been dealt with a lot more harshly “back in the day.”
