Adam Copeland Reveals The Exact Moment He Knew He Would Leave The WWE

Adam Copeland, known by his former ring name Edge, recently reminisced about his match against Sheamus on a recent episode of SmackDown.

The wrestling world was taken by surprise when Adam Copeland made his debut for AEW at the WrestleDream pay-per-view on Sunday, October 1st. Many fans had expected him to remain with WWE, where he had spent the majority of his illustrious career. However, Copeland’s final match in WWE took place during the August 18th episode of SmackDown, where he engaged in an intense twenty-minute battle with Sheamus.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Copeland revealed that during the match with Sheamus, he started to believe that it would be his last match with WWE. He also contemplated the possibility of retirement after the bout.

Halfway through the match with Sheamus in Toronto, I was thinking, ‘This is probably my last WWE match. I also started thinking, right then, ‘There is a great chance I retire after this,’

Reflecting on his departure from WWE, Copeland expressed immense gratitude for the way he was sent off.

The WWE gave me that night, and I’ll hold it with me until I die. I was having so much fun. That was the perfect ending.

When Will Adam Copeland Debut In-Ring For AEW?

Adam Copeland will make his in-ring debut for AEW on the Tuesday, October 10th episode of Dynamite, where he will go one-on-one with Luchasaurus.

Copeland made his debut at AEW WrestleDream saving Sting and Darby Allin from an attack by Christian Cage and his allies, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne. He then appeared on the October 4th Dynamite where he discussed topics including potential matchups he could have with the company.

Copeland then called out Christian and explained why he attacked his best friend at WrestleDream and expressed his desire to reform their tag partnership. Christian rejected Copeland’s offer and brought out his stablemates Luchasaurus and Wayne to remind him what he would be facing on Tuesday’s Dynamite.
