Shelton Benjamin Reveals What Brock Lesnar Is Really Like Behind The Scenes

Cowboy Brock Lesnar Shelton Benjamin

Shelton Benjamin knows Brock Lesnar better than almost anybody.

The former Intercontinental Champion was a college roommate with The Beast prior to their careers in professional wrestling beginning. Both being a part of the famous 2002 OVW class, Benjamin and Lesnar would capture the Tag Team Championships together in the promotion as The Minnesota Stretching Crew.

With Brock Lesnar’s intimidating onscreen persona well documented, what is it like to be around the former WWE Champion when the cameras are not rolling?

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Shelton Benjamin described how nice Lesnar can be if you are able to earn his trust, and what he is like if you are not:

“Something that you will be shocked to learn. Well, yes, everyone knows the Brock Lesnar persona. Now, if Brock is your friend he will give you the shirt off his back nicest guy in the world fun and cool to hang around with. That might surprise people how actually cool Brock can be if he likes you, keyword is if he likes you. But if he doesn’t like you he’s just he’s what you what you’re seeing on TV that’s not an act. Like you’re not seeing a different version of Brock.

You know, I spoke on this earlier Brock is not acting Brock is not playing a role. Brock is Brock. What you’re seeing that’s real. Brock does not [care], he’s not social. He doesn’t give a blip. Like Brock is Brock so don’t get it twisted. And yes, he’s a world destroyer. I call him a juggernaut like Brock is, he’s a bad boy.”

Brock Lesnar’s more candid side was recently on display at a country music concert, where the former World Champion would take centre stage.

Is Shelton Benjamin Underrated?

Arguably one of the most talented in-ring performers during The Ruthless Aggression Era, many fans believe that The Gold Standard deserved a lot more during his first run with the company. John Bradshaw Layfield shared the ring with Benjamin on multiple occasions and has described the former Tag Team Champion as one of the most talented wrestlers he has ever faced.

In the same interview, Benjamin would praise Chad Gable for the work he is currently doing on the main roster.
