Ricky Starks Issues A Warning To Adam Copeland

Ricky Starks cuts a promo on AEW Rampage 2022

Ricky Starks believes that Adam Copeland should change his finisher.

The spear has been a signature move in the arsenal of The Rated R Superstar throughout his career, with highlights being spearing Jeff Hardy off the top of a ladder at WrestleMania 17 and spearing John Cena to win his first World Championship. However, according to Starks, there is only one man in AEW who is permitted to use the devastating manoeuvre, himself.

While speaking on the Battleground with Tim show, Starks was asked if he wanted to face Copeland in the first time ever matchup. The Absolute wrestler joked that he has no interest in facing Copeland as the Hall of Famer did not mention him in the long list of dream matches:

“Well, the answer is no because Adam didn’t mention my name. I’m not going to mention his name,”

Starks continued by stating that Copeland is good for the business but he will need to find a new way to end his matches or face the consequences:

“I think it’s a great thing. Having new people come and spruce it up and mix it up is always good, especially people who are eager to try and help. That can only benefit everyone. I am excited to see the match ups he’s able to have within AEW. It’s a very exciting time, especially people who have fallen out of wrestling, to hear that Edge…Adam Copeland is back, is good. I just need to have a talk with him about the spear.

There is only one top dog who uses the spear, and it’s me, Ricky Starks. We have to nip that in the bud. It’s just minor housekeeping rules when you come to AEW. Don’t tug on Superman’s cape, don’t piss in the wind, and don’t do the spear. I don’t want to have to spear Adam Copeland. I’ll be hated even more online. Edge, Christian, whatever, the biggest spear at AEW is me. I have the best spear,”

Other finishers that the former World Champion has utilised throughout his career have included the Edgecator and the Edgecution.

In the same interview, Ricky Starks also admitted to be “sick of groups” in AEW and explained why he would deny an invitation into the Blackpool Combat Club!

Ricky Starks Looks For Next Challenge Following WrestleDream

Days before the pay-per-view took place, Ricky Starks was announced to take on Wheeler Yuta at WrestleDream. Looking to prove himself after multiple losses to Bryan Danielson, Starks won the match after hitting Yuta with the spear and followed it up with a roshambo.

H/t to Fightful.

After over three years with AEW, Ricky Starks would capture AEW Championship gold for the first time during the October 7th edition of AEW Collision.
