Ricky Starks Captures AEW Championship Gold

Ricky Starks hitting his signature post on the AEW entrance ramp.

After over three years with the company, Ricky Starks has finally captured AEW Championship gold!

During the October 7th episode of AEW Collision, Ricky Starks and Big Bill teamed up to take on FTR for the prestigious AEW World Tag Team Championships.

In a shock twist that nobody saw coming it was Starks and Big Bill who left victorious, destroying Dax Harwood in just over four minutes to capture the Tag Team Championships for the first time.

During a post match interview, Starks would declare that he and the former Big Cass are the “real faces of Collision” whilst Big Bill would state that it is “about time” that the AEW tag team division was represented by some “real stars.”

Despite successful runs in NXT & WWE, tonight’s win represents the first piece of championship gold ever held by Big Bill whilst Starks has previously held the NWA World Television Championship and the, unofficially recognised, FTW Championship in AEW.

Cash Wheeler was not involved in the match, isolated from Harwood by Starks and Big Bill with many speculating that this, along with the title change, was done due to Wheeler suffering broken ribs during FTR’s AEW World Tag Team Championship defence against Aussie Open during AEW WrestleDream.

Ricky Starks and Big Bill will not have long to rest as The Young Bucks earned the status as number one contenders to the AEW World Tag Team Championships at AEW WrestleDream on October 1st.

How Old Is Ricky Starks?

At the time of writing, Ricky Starks is 33-years-old.

Starks celebrated his 33rd birthday on the 21st of February 2023.

The new AEW World Tag Team Champion was in New Orleans, Louisiana, in February 1990.

Ricky Starks recently issues a warning to AEW’s newest signing, WWE Hall of Famer, Adam Copeland.
