Rey Mysterio will be out of action for an unspecified amount of time after undergoing successful knee surgery.

Posting an update on Instagram, Mysterio is seen lying in bed with his right knee heavily bandaged. The Hall of Famer has captioned the image by saying that he has undergone a successful operation and will get revenge on the man who caused the injury, Santos Escobar:

Rey Mysterio Attacked Following US Title Loss

At Crown Jewel, Mysterio lost the United States Championship to Logan Paul. The Maverick utilised brass knuckles that were left on the apron to get the victory and win his first title. Logan Paul has been heavily praised for his performance in the match, in particular a spot where Paul seemingly saved Rey Mysterio from serious injury.

Following the loss at the Saudi Arabia show, Mysterio appeared on the November 10th episode of SmackDown to talk about the match. The promo was interrupted by LWO member Carlito, who blamed Escobar for not moving the brass knuckles when he had the chance. Later in the show, Escobar launched a brutal attack on Mysterio, drop-kicking the steel steps into the former World Champion’s leg and writing him off of TV to undergo surgery.

Having competed in the squared circle for over 30 years, Rey Mysterio has also recently stated when he plans to retire from in-ring competition.

In a further update by Haus of Wrestling, a source within the company confirmed that Mysterio is expected to be out for 6 to 8 weeks, with it being further reported that Mysterio has been working through a torn meniscus for about three months. The injury has gradually gotten worse over time to the point where surgery was necessitated.

Going viral at Crown Jewel after being caught by Logan Paul, the true story behind the Rey Mysterio save has now come to light.

Everyone at Inside The Ropes would like to wish Rey Mysterio a full and speedy recovery.
