At WWE’s 2023 Crown Jewel PLE Logan Paul captured the United States Championship just eight matches into his career, but, more impressively, he also captured the respect of the WWE universe after saving Rey Mysterio from a near disastrous botch.
Logan Paul and Rey Mysterio faced off at Crown Jewel 2023 in a well received match up that featured fantastic in-ring work from Mysterio, and Paul, and also the potential beginning of Santos Escobar’s much anticipated heel turn against his fellow LWO member.
But it is Paul’s ring awareness and incredible reactions that has made news following the show.
With Mysterio on top, he would hit the ropes to go for his signature Springboard Moonsault Tornado DDT, however Mysterio would lose his feeting causing the former WWE Champion to come down quickly, missing Paul and looking set to land neck and head first on the mat.
Luckily Paul, despite his lack of experience, would notice Mysterio falling short and slide into position, safely catching the Lucha Libre legend into a Powerslam position and saving him from a very serious injury.

Following the match Paul has received heavy praise from the WWE Universe online with fans stating that he “saved Rey Mysterio’s life” and claiming that this level of composure with such little experience makes Paul a “once in a generation performer.”
Former ROH star Michael Elgin has claimed however that Paul’s impressive feat highlights a bigger issue in professional wrestling before claiming that wrestling “needs to be saved.”
Taking to Twitter, Elgin writes:
“Why do we need pro wrestling to be saved?
Yes, Logan Paul made a huge save tonight. No matter the circumstances a true wrestler, opponents’ safety before his own.
He could have torn a quad or busted up a knee but put Rey’s safety first.
Why are dirt sheets and fans saying this?
I miss the good ole days when someone would say, Damon that Logan Paul sure is strong, he almost fell but still caught Rey. What strength!
They say we can’t close the curtain now, it needs to be shut so we don’t feel like monkeys in a zoo.
We should have a more personal connection. WOW, TEARS, JOY, YAY, BOO, etc.
Not he saved this person or this or that. He risked his well being for Rey’s life.”
What Is Logan Paul’s Goal In The WWE?
Despite his incredible performance in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and capturing the WWE United States Championship, Logan Paul is not satisfied.
Speaking to Alex McCarthy in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Paul would reveal his aspirations in the WWE before sending a message to Roman Reigns.
“Something is so appetising about the idea of doing the best I can in this industry and I know the best I can is to become the face of the WWE, is to become the undisputed universal champion.
‘I had an opportunity to do it last year at Crown Jewel against Roman (Reigns) and I did amazing. I’m still a rookie, I’ve been doing it for a year and a half, so imagine if I dedicate a little time to it. “
