Jim Ross’ AEW Contract Expired In September

Jim Ross

Jim Ross appears to be working for AEW with little to no time left on his current deal.

Following Jim Ross giving an update back in August of “We’ll know in a few weeks,” there have not been any announcements from either side regarding an extension. According to a new update, the contract expiry date seems to be imminent or has already passed.

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ross’ contract is “either up or about to be up,” with sources telling them that the current deal came to an end in September and both parties are still working to negotiate a new deal. While the legendary commentator could leave for another promotion, this seems unlikely as JR has stated on his podcast on multiple occasions how happy he is to be working for Tony Khan.

The Hall of Famer was last seen behind the desk at the WrestleDream pay-per-view, where he was seen sitting alongside Jon Moxley, who provided additional announcing for multiple matches at the event.

Jim Ross Names His MVP Of All Elite Wrestling

Having been signed to the promotion since day one, Ross has had the best seat in the house for multiple critically acclaimed matchups in the short history of the promotion. Prior to his match with Zack Sabre Jr. at WrestleDream, Jim Ross named Bryan Danielson as the MVP of AEW. Danielson would back up Ross’ point in his match against the fellow technician as Dave Meltzer would rate the WrestleDream match highly when all was said and done.
