Jon Moxley Had A “Pretty Fun” Time Announcing AEW WrestleDream Matches

Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite

Jon Moxley enjoyed his time behind the commentary desk at AEW WrestleDream.

Mox became the highlight of the pre-show with such quotes as advising Claudio Castagnoli to “elbow that big son of a b*tch” when Castagnoli faced Josh Barnett.

Returning for the main show, Mox grabbed the headset again to announce the match between Wheeler Yuta and Ricky Starks, where the former World Champion revealed he was fined for his colourful language used on Zero Hour. Covering up his microphone to try and reduce the volume, Mox advised Yuta to make Starks “pay for that sh*t,” which was still heard on the main broadcast.

Reflecting on his role as guest commentator, Moxley revealed to Sports Illustrated how much fun he had on the night and gave an insight into how hard the job can be:

“It was pretty fun,” said Moxley. “It’s actually a lot harder than you think. I remember doing it once or twice in WWE–there’s guys on the headset, counting down, camera shots, video packages, and you don’t want to talk while anyone else is talking. There is a lot of traffic to navigate. Hopefully, I didn’t make the other three guys’ lives more difficult.”

Moxley then stated how lucky is he to be presented with multiple opportunities despite feeling underqualified:

“I’ve been paid to star in a movie, and I’m not a real actor,” said Moxley, revealing his sharp-but-dry sense of humor. “I got paid to write a book and I’m not a real writer. I’m barely a real wrestler. So this is another thing that someone paid me to do that I am completely unqualified to do. I don’t know how I keep getting so lucky.”

Jon Moxley Not Cleared To Compete

The Blackpool Combat Club member was unable to get physical at WrestleDream due to the events that took place at Grand Slam, where Jon Moxley suffered a Terrifying injury. Later in the night, Moxley also commentated on the dream match between “the greatest pro wrestler of all time” Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr.
