Rey Mysterio believes that Triple H is doing an incredible job as head of creative thanks to his previous career as a WWE Superstar.
Despite being a part of the behind-the-scenes operation in 2023, fans know The Game best as the dominant champion of The Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras, capturing the world title 14 times in the process. Fellow in-ring veteran Mysterio believes that this is crucial in Triple H’s new role as he knows what it is like to be a full-time wrestler.
While appearing on The MMA Hour, Mysterio commented on how the backstage environment has changed under the new regime. The Hall of Famer noted that while there still have been some last-minute changes, everything is feeling more controlled in general:
“He was part of the roster so he understands what we do and go through and I don’t think they could have picked a better person to take that role. He’s been doing incredible, incredible. From the whole writing team and him and whoever the final person that gives the authorization to say, ‘That’s a go’, it’s been doing really, really good. To a certain extent, you know, we would have times where things would be changed last minute. Right now everything’s flowing very smooth, very, very smooth and it’s a good atmosphere.”
Triple H Makes “Overnight” Changes
The Hall of Famer was first named as the head of creative following Vince McMahon’s announcement of his retirement back in July 2022, fans noted how they were pleased with the way that the presentation of the product had been improved. However, following McMahon’s return to help necessitate the eventual sale of WWE, the Chairman frequently got involved with creative plans, most notably the heavily criticised Raw after Mania.
Following Vince McMahon being officially removed from creative by Endeavor bosses, the Chairman was unable to provide significant input, leaving Triple H to run the show uninterrupted, with some changes happening virtually “overnight.”
