AEW Star Names Mercedes Mone As One Of The Greatest Of All Time

Mercedes Mone in NJPW

AEW star Daniel Garcia explained why Mercedes Mone is one of the best performers of all time regardless of gender.

Mone made waves when she made her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17, and she’s found great success in the world of Japanese wrestling, having already reigned as IWGP Women’s Champion.

The star has been out of action since suffering an injury in May, and many fans are anxiously awaiting her return. It’s been reported by multiple outlets that there are plans in place for Mone to join All Elite Wrestling when she’s healed. In fact, one report indicated that Mercedes Mone likely would have made her AEW debut at Blood and Guts back in July had she not been injured as the show took place in her home town of Boston.

Speaking in a new interview with The Walkaway Fight Club, Blackpool Combat Club member Daniel Garcia opened up about Mone, praising her for her star power and in-ring skill.

“I think a Mercedes, not even in a women’s division, I think she’s one of the greatest performers of all time. I think she carries herself like a star. Her in-ring ability is amazing. I think she’s very creative, very unique.”

Daniel Garcia Praised Mercedes Mone’s Work Ethic

Continuing, Garcia spoke about Mone’s post-WWE journey, noting that the star worked hard to learn a variety of styles before her return to the ring.

“I’ve never met her, but you can tell her work ethic is insane. When she left, took a break for a year, and she was going to all these different schools. She trained in Mexico, she trained in Japan, she trained with House of Glory in New York City, just learning and adapting to all these different styles to improve her game. Just always being a student, not being complacent, not just resting on her laurels. She never seems like the type to do that.

“I really admire her, I love watching and studying her matches. I think she’s one of the best of all time, male or female.”

While she is expected to join AEW soon, a recent report indicated that Mercedes Mone is not the mystery signing announced by Tony Khan for Full Gear on November 18th.
