Colt Cabana Reveals Chris Jericho Personally Requested Him For AEW Dynamite Return

Colt Cabana

After a lengthy absence from AEW television, Colt Cabana made his return on the November 2nd edition of AEW Dynamite to challenge Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship.

Colt Cabana’s return to AEW television came almost a year on from his previous match in the company, a losing effort to Bryan Danielson in November 2021.

The Chicago-born star appeared for ROH and had appeared on a number of Indie shows over the previous 12 months, but had seen his role in AEW greatly reduced following the arrival of his former friend CM Punk.

Travel Told Me ’Chris Jericho Is Requesting Your Presence’” – Colt Cabana On How His AEW Dynamite Return Came About

Colt Cabana was a recent guest on the ‘Work of Wrestling’ podcast and discussed his current contract situation with AEW:

“I have a contract with AEW, I get paid regardless, my contract is with AEW. I’ve been told that I’m going to be used for Ring of Honor. That’s kind of it. There hasn’t been a lot of contact, but I do know that I collect a check and it comes from All Elite Wrestling.”

He also revealed that his recent return to AEW came at the request of current ROH World Champion Chris Jericho:

“I never talked to Tony until I was in Gorilla (position), so it wasn’t a call from Tony Khan. The travel called me up and said, ‘You’re needed for Baltimore, Maryland.’ I assumed it was to wrestle Chris Jericho. I think the travel told me, ‘Chris Jericho is requesting your presence in Baltimore.’ So, I wrestled Chris. I’m under contract, they tell me to show up, I showed up. They tell me who I’m wrestling, I wrestle. If they want me to wrestle again, I’ll wrestle again. if they want me to agent again, I’ll agent again, whatever.”

AEW President Tony Khan has vehemently denied rumours that CM Punk had anything to do with Cabana’s absence from AEW television, but members of his roster are reportedly sceptical about his claims.
