Colt Cabana Makes Televised AEW Return For First Time In A Year

Colt Cabana kneels in-ring at ROH Death Before Dishonor 2022

On the November 2nd Colt Cabana made his return to AEW having last wrestled for the promotion back in March on Dark. However, the star hadn’t wrestled on television since being defeated by Bryan Danielson on Dynamite back in November 2021.

Although Cabana has appeared on Ring of Honor pay-per-views and AEW Fight Forever promotional events he has been largely out of the spotlight in recent months.

Colt Cabana Is Back

On Dynamite Cabana answered an open challenge from Chris Jericho for any Ring of Honor Champion to step into the ring with him. Cabana is of course a former two-time Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion. Despite putting it all on the line, Cabana was no match for the full strength of the Jericho Appreciation Society as well as the Ring of Honor World Champion himself, eventually falling to a Codebreaker.

While Colt Cabana has stayed away from the spotlight himself, his name has been at the centre of the CM Punk-related controversy that has swept across AEW. There were claims earlier in the year that Punk had asked for his former friend to be moved from the promotion and over to Ring of Honor.

This came to a head in the now infamous post-All Out media scrum where Punk took aim at Cabana, the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Adam Page.

It is widely believed that Punk will not be returning to All Elite Wrestling, as reports about a contract buy-out continue to swirl. Many fans have taken Cabana’s appearance on Dynamite as another sign that the former AEW World Champion will not be back in the promotion.

The show also featured the AEW debut of WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett. The former Intercontinental Champion instantly made an impact by smashing his signature guitar over the head of Darby Allin. It was later confirmed by Tony Khan that Jarrett will be working as Director of Business Development.
