Why Were Jeff & Matt Hardy Absent from 12/6 AEW Tapings?

Matt Hardy Jeff Hardy AEW Entrance

Matt Hardy set the record straight about The Hardys’ absence from a recent Dynamite taping.

The December 6th episode of AEW Dynamite emanated from Montreal, QC and featured a TNT Championship match between Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in the main event. Toni Storm also defended her AEW Women’s Championship against Skye Blue on the show, and the Continental Classic Tournament continued.

Two stars who weren’t a part of the proceedings were Matt and Jeff Hardy, and speaking on a recent episode of The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, Matt explained that he wasn’t in Canada as his brother is unable to travel there. Jeff hasn’t been able to travel to Canada as a result of his 2022 arrest.

“No Matt at Dynamite tonight, and the reason being, it is in Canada, and my brother still has issues getting into Canada right now, and since Jeff wasn’t gonna be there, then I wasn’t going to be needed to be there.” (h/t Fightful)

This isn’t the first time the travel restrictions have come into play for the brothers. Back in June, Jeff Hardy was written off TV as AEW was in Canada for a number of weeks in a row.

Matt Hardy Frustrated With AEW Creative

On another recent podcast episode, Matt expressed frustration about how The Hardys have been used on AEW television in recent weeks. The star explained how he’d like to channel some of this frustration into a heel run for the duo, and also made it clear that there’s no negativity between himself and All Elite Wrestling.
