Roman Reigns: 2022 Biography, Net Worth, Family, Income

Leati Joseph Anoa’i – better known as Roman Reigns – had a brief professional football career before retiring from the sport and following in his family’s footsteps to pursue a career in professional wrestling.

The son of Sika Anoa’i, one half of The Wild Samoans, was signed to WWE in 2010 and worked for their developmental territory at the time, Florida Championship Wrestling, under the ring name Leakee.

Following the launch of NXT in August 2012, Anoa’i began performing under the name Roman Reigns but only made a select few appearances on the brand before being called up to WWE’s main roster in November 2012.

Reigns made his debut at Survivor Series 2012 alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, interfering in the main event of the show to help CM Punk retain his WWE Championship over Ryback and John Cena.

The trio of Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose were known as The Shield and went on to become one of the most successful stables in WWE history over the next couple of years, winning multiple championships and having memorable feuds with the likes of Evolution and The Wyatt Family.

Following the implosion of The Shield in 2014, Roman began a singles run and was quickly pushed into the World Title picture, which received a mixed response from the audience.

While Reigns’ had a lot of success in terms of championships and accolades during this run, fan backlash to his controversial rise marred many of his accomplishments. His 2015 Royal Rumble victory and WrestleMania main events against Brock Lesnar and Triple H in particular were not well received by the WWE faithful.

However, his recent heel run as ‘The Tribal Chief’ has been almost universally praised by fans and he is widely regarded as the top guy in the company.

Reigns won the WWE Universal Championship after defeating Braun Strowman and ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt in a triple threat at Payback 2010 and has held the championship for over 790 days.

At WrestleMania 38, Roman Reigns defeated WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in a ‘Winner Takes All’ match and has since been recognised as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
