MJF Set To Break All-Time AEW Record

MJF Set To Break All-Time AEW Record

MJF is a few hours away from making AEW history.

As of October 31st, The World Champion has held the title for 346 days, having first won the title back at Full Gear 2022. This achievement ties The Devil with the wrestler who also previously held the top championship for 346 days, Kenny Omega. With no title defence taking place on Halloween, there is nothing stopping MJF from achieving the single-longest World Championship reign in the promotion’s history on November 1st.

The final hurdle to overcome was a match against Omega with the Triple B at stake. The Best Bout Machine wanted to keep his record intact so issued the challenge to The Devil for a showdown on the October 28th episode of Collision.

Despite a brief appearance from Don Callis, The Devil beat Omega clean to remain the champion. Acknowledging the magnitude of the victory, the World Champion heavily credited Omega in a post-match promo after Collision went off of the air. Recognising who the better man was on the night, Kenny Omega responded that he was proud that the AEW Championship was in the right hands.

The Devil now looks to be the first World Champion to keep ahold of the title for a whole year as he will next defend the Triple B at the event where his reign of terror began, Full Gear. The challenger at the event will be Jay White.

Who Has MJF Defended The World Championship Against?

Best friends, bitter enemies, rising stars and veterans have all failed to defeat The Devil as the bidding war of 2024 hots up. To maintain possession of the Triple B, some of The World Champion’s biggest defences have included a 60-minute Iron Man victory over Bryan Danielson, defeating Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin and Jack Perry in a 4 pillars 4-way match and standing tall in front of 80,000 people following a victory over best friend Adam Cole in the main event of All In.

Following the marquee victory, the ratings for AEW Collision have been published.

In a further update on November 1st, MJF has now officially broken the all-time AEW record.
