Roman Reigns “Heated” After Unplanned WarGames Spot Caused Him To Suffer Potential Ruptured Eardrum

Roman Reigns WWE Universal Champion

In a recent report from Fightful Select, it has been revealed that Roman Reigns was visibly upset about an unplanned spot during Survivor Series.

Roman Reigns and the Bloodline defeated The Brawling Brutes, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens in the main event War Games match on Saturday. The wrestling community has received the match well, but it looks as though not everything went to plan. One spot in particular has made “The Tribal Chief” very unhappy.

Why Was Roman Reigns “Heated?”

The Fightful Select report states that Roman Reigns was disgruntled with a spot involving himself and Kevin Owens. Though the spot in question was not explicitly highlighted, it was apparently unplanned and may have led to Roman Reigns suffering a severe injury.

“As he walked backstage, he mentioned possibly having a ruptured ear drum, and wanted the spot to go as originally planned. The exclamation was said to have been “expletive filled” and it was clear to everyone that Reigns wasn’t happy.”

Ruptured eardrums can take between a few weeks and a few months to heal, so if Roman Reigns has indeed suffered this injury, it could potentially make a dent on his in-ring time for the rest of 2022.

Though Reigns wasn’t most pleased, it doesn’t seem like his expletive-filled rant led to a fight between him and Owens. There were no reports of a physical altercation between the two, and with both men being viewed as professionals, it is assumed that nothing more will come from the incident. This will be welcome news for WWE creative, who will no doubt be penning further run-ins between Reigns and Owens, based on Sami Zayn‘s actions during the War Games match. In a pivotal point of the match, Zayn kicked Owens between the legs to win the approval of Roman Reigns’ Bloodline faction.

All in all, the backstage incident appears to be very much a “heat of the moment” reaction, and will likely have no effect on future storylines in WWE.

Elsewhere on Survivor Series, Austin Theory captured the United States Championship in a match with Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley. The show also saw the return of Becky Lynch as part of Team Belair, who defeated Team Bayley in the opening match.
