Kenny Omega Returns Sets Up Match For AEW WrestleDream

Kenny Omega on AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega is a man on a mission.

At Rampage Grand Slam the former World Champion returned to AEW television for the first time since being defeated at All Out.

On the show, Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita came to the ring to introduce the newest member of the Don Callis Family, Sammy Guevara. The Spanish God turned on Chris Jericho on Dynamite, hitting him with a thunderous low blow following his loss to the veteran.

Once in the ring on Rampage, Guevara said Jericho had held him back, and that he had a new family with Don Callis.

Unsurprisingly, this didn’t go down well with Jericho who rushed to the ring, but he was beaten down by the trio. Callis went to use a screwdriver on Jericho but this brought out Kenny Omega to make the save. This was Omega’s first appearance since being pinned by Takeshita at All Out in Chicago.

In an interview backstage, Omega explained that his actions had more to do with Callis than Jericho. However, The Ocho popped up and said that AEW was built on a rivalry between himself and Omega, but they now had a common enemy.

Jericho ended by laying down a challenge for WrestleDream, confirming he’ll team with Omega.

Later in the show, it was confirmed Omega, Jericho, and Kota Ibushi would team up to face Guevara, Takeshita, and an as-yet-unnamed partner.

Elsewhere on Rampage, The Young Bucks and Hangman Adam Page captured the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship for the first time in almost six years!

Kenny Omega Confirmed, MJF’s WrestleDream Plans Up In The Air

While Kenny Omega’s plans for WrestleDream are set, things for MJF look much more uncertain.

Following the injury suffered by Adam Cole on Dynamite, it’s been reported this could cause plans for WrestleDream to change. At present, MJF and Cole are scheduled to face The Righteous at the event with the ROH World Tag Team Titles on the line.

However, with updates on Cole, few and far between, MJF’s creative could change significantly.
