Shayna Baszler – “The Stuff I’m Saying Is Real”

Shayna Baszler attacks Ronda Rousey

Shayna Baszler has opened up about why she seems to be connecting so well with WWE fans.

After competing in mixed martial arts, Shayna Baszler embarked on a new career as a professional wrestler in 2015. Two years later the star signed with WWE and became one of the most dominant forces the NXT women’s division has ever seen.

This continued onto the main roster, although she eventually found herself somewhat lost in the wilderness before teaming with Ronda Rousey. However, at Money In The Bank, Baszler turned her back on her long-time friend and followed that up with a vicious beatdown on Raw.

The feud between the two women has continued to ramp up and the pair appear to be on a collision course for SummerSlam. Despite being the one to turn on her partner, Baszler has been cheered to the rafters.

Appearing on WWE’s The Bump, Baszler said that she believes fans have got behind her because they can see what’s real and what’s not.

“One thing I’ve always said about wrestling fans – sports fans in general – is they can smell when you’re faking the funk,” Baszler explained, “and all this is legit and real to me. I think they connect to stuff that’s real.”

She added that fans are cheering for her because they know what she’s saying is real and not manufactured.

“You just cheer for who you like and it just happens to be me because the stuff I’m saying is real,” Baszler said, “and the stuff I’m saying is the stuff fans have been saying ever since Ronda got signed.”

Baszler would double down on the above statements in an exclusive interview with Inside The Ropes ahead of the MMA rules match at SummerSlam.

Will Shayna Baszler Be Ronda Rousey’s Last WWE Opponent?

There have long been reports that Ronda Rousey will be stepping away from WWE in the near future with one report noting she’s given the company a “hard out” for when she will be leaving. Furthermore, this date is said to be well before WrestleMania 2024.

This led to speculation that she might be leaving WWE immediately after SummerSlam and potentially even returning to UFC. While the links to UFC appear to be false, it seems that Rousey will be leaving WWE sooner rather than later with her planned match with Baszler at SummerSlam potentially being her last action in a WWE ring.
