Ronda Rousey Preparing To Leave WWE

According to a new report, Ronda Rousey will be ending her current run with WWE in the near future.

After an incredibly successful initial spell with the company, Rousey stepped away from the ring following WrestleMania 35 to focus on starting a family. However, she returned to action at the 2022 Royal Rumble, winning the women’s match, before going on to wrestle Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38.

In more recent months, Rousey has teamed with her real-life friend Shayna Baszler and the pair won the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Despite their success, Baszler turned on Rousey during their match at Money In The Bank handing the gold back to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the plan was always for the pair to team together and then set up a singles program. Interestingly, Meltzer revealed that Rousey has given WWE a “hard out date” for her current run, which is “long before WrestleMania.”

“This was always, always, always the plan,” Meltzer said.

“It kept getting delayed and then Ronda got hurt and the thing was – and I don’t know the date, and it might be SummerSlam, it might be a little bit after – the deal is that Ronda has a hard out. She gave a date, ‘This is my last date.’ Cause I remember talking to somebody there and it’s like, ‘I know they’re going to do this, and I guess, make the big match for WrestleMania.’ And it’s like, ‘No, her hard out is…’ – they didn’t give me the date but it’s long before WrestleMania,” he continued.

“They want to do a feud. The whole tag team was to set up Ronda and Shayna doing a feud. Ronda wanted to do this feud with Shayna, she got what she wanted. She’s always wanted to do it because Shayna is the one who got her basically into pro wrestling.”

Ronda Rousey’s Broken Arm Complicated Recent Storylines

Meltzer added that the feud between Rousey and Baszler had to take place now, commenting that Rousey’s injury problems in the run-up to, and immediately after WrestleMania complicated the issue.

“Based on whenever that out is, they had to get it done now. This was the latest they could go. Yeah, they wanted a long title reign to build it up and to do the whole thing where you can see the stuff coming, the little teases and everything. They didn’t have time. Things just got screwed up. Really it was the broken arm that screwed it up more than anything else but that’s what happened.”

It is believed that Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler will wrestle one-on-one at SummerSlam.
