CM Punk is once again the talk of the wrestling world. The former AEW Champion shocked the WWE audience at Survivor Series: WarGames when he made his sensational return to the company after nearly a decade.

The surprise comeback came after months of speculation. Ever since Punk was fired from AEW earlier this year rumours of his return to his former employers were rife. However, during the lead-up to the PLE, it seemed as if the return was off the table, only for the Chicago native to make an astonishing homecoming at the Allstate Arena.

The unexpected return marks Punk’s first appearance at a WWE event since 2014. Punk’s last time in front of a WWE crowd took place at the Royal Rumble of that year before he walked out on the company following months of unhappiness at his position within the promotion.

Following his walkout and the explosive podcast he conducted about it, which resulted in legal action, the relationship between Punk and the promotion seemed beyond repair. However, Triple H revealed that he and Nick Khan were the sole individuals spearheading Punk’s comeback, keeping the entire creative and production team in the dark until the very last minute.

Only a select few were aware of the plan prior to Survivor Series, with most talents being kept out of the loop until moments before Punk’s surprise appearance, which could explain why Seth Rollins was visibly angered by Punk’s presence.

Due to the secrecy of Punk’s comeback, some of the finer details surrounding his deal with the company remain unknown and reports about his new contract are unsubstantiated.

How long is CM Punk’s new WWE contract?

Following his appearance wrestling news is flooded with reports on how the return came about, when it happened and how long his new contract is. There are several reports that PW Insider stated that Punk had signed a three-year contract with WWE. However, the outlet has since claimed that this information is false and any reports surrounding the length of Punk’s contract are inaccurate.
