CM Punk Makes Shocking WWE Return At Survivor Series

CM Punk making his WWE return at Survivor Series: WarGames

Yes, it’s true: CM Punk is back in WWE, making his shock return to the company in the closing moments of Survivor Series: WarGames.

Fans in attendance at the Premium Live Event were stunned when Cult of Personality rang out across the Allstate Arena following the conclusion of the Men’s WarGames match. Moments later, CM Punk walked out of the gorilla position and onto the stage, much to the joy of his hometown crowd.

Punk took in the reaction before hugging various fans in the crowd. Neither Michael Cole nor Corey Graves said anything on commentary and the show went off the air with Punk staring down the winners of the main event: Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Randy Orton, and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

This marks Punk’s first wrestling appearance since competing at AEW All In: London just under three months ago. There, he successfully defended his ‘Real’ AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe but was subsequently terminated from the promotion after a backstage altercation with Jack Perry.

CM Punk Returns Almost A Decade On From His Controversial WWE Exit

CM Punk has not appeared in WWE since competing in the 2014 Royal Rumble almost 10 years ago. Following that pay-per-view, Punk walked out of the company and retired from professional wrestling entirely for over seven years.

In August 2021, however, Punk debuted in AEW on the first episode of Rampage. He went on to have a two-year run with the company, during which he became a two-time AEW World Champion.

With AEW attempting to counter WWE with Collision and Rampage going head-to-head with Survivor Series, the ratings proved to be decisive for one side.

Having now appeared on TV following the shock return, what did CM Punk say on WWE Raw?
