WWE Touts Success Of Record-Breaking Survivor Series

WWE Touts Success Of Record-Breaking Survivor Series

WWE has announced that the 2023 Survivor Series is the most successful iteration in the 37-year history of the event.

As announced via press release, the November Premium Live Event saw new records set for viewership, sponsorship, gate and viewership. The previous record was set one year ago, which saw the debut of the WarGames stipulation on the main roster. The address ends by referencing the WWE return of CM Punk, which was very successful on social media channels.

The press release is as follows:

STAMFORD, Conn., November 28, 2023 – WWE announced that Survivor Series, which emanated from Allstate Arena in Chicago, set new records for the highest viewership, largest gate and best merchandise sales in the event’s 37-year history.

Viewership for Survivor Series was up 44 percent versus the previous record set in 2022. With 17,138 in attendance, the event broke the previous Survivor Series gate record set in Brooklyn in 2021.

In partnership with Fanatics, Survivor Series broke the premium live event’s all-time merchandise record. Sponsorship revenue was up 24 percent versus 2022.

In addition, the surprise return of CM Punk after nearly a decade away from WWE further drove massive digital engagement. Punk’s comeback moment has more than 71 million views across all platforms, making it the most social post in company history.

While the recent Premium Live Event was the most successful iteration ever, the Chicago record still stands, which was WrestleMania 22 back in 2006.

WWE Continues To Break Records

The financial successes of Survivor Series 2022 and 2023 are impressive as fewer seats were available due to an extra ring being required for the WarGames matches. The promotion continually made alterations to the Allstate Arena in the lead-up to the event as there was an unprecedented demand for tickets, largely due to the rumours that Randy Orton and CM Punk would be at the event, with Orton confirmed on the go-home episode of Raw and Punk still remaining an uncertainty until the final minutes of the broadcast.

The company’s record-breaking streak continues in 2023, with multiple Premium Live Events setting new records throughout the year in regard to revenue and viewership. With demand for shows in 2024 already proving to be extremely popular, it looks as if the current records are set to be shattered once again the following year.
