Update On Ace Steel’s Role With AEW, Considered An ‘Insurance Risk’

Ace Steel cuts a promo

Ace Steel is still on the AEW payroll, but his role has greatly changed since All Out 2022.

Steel was one of the several participants in the infamous “Brawl Out” skirmish that took place after the AEW All Out media scrum last year, but the producer has not been allowed to be backstage at any of the shows, according to a new report from Fightful Select.

Back in May, Steel was labeled as an “insurance risk” by sources at Fightful and therefore is not allowed backstage. In recent months he did have correspondence with Tony Khan about wrestling. He was given permission to seek work outside of AEW, but was considered back with the company in some capacity. He has supposedly talked with Khan periodically, mostly giving suggestions for CM Punk. His contract is set to expire in the Fall of 2024.

Ace Steel’s Reported Role In “Brawl Out”

Ace Steel was reportedly the only ally CM Punk had during the backstage fight with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.

Christopher Daniels was also apart of the melee and due to that, also felt the effects of not being allowed backstage at Collision this past week, despite being the Head Of Talent Relations. Steel reportedly bit Kenny Omega during the fight which was later played up by The Elite on an episode of Dynamite.

Steel was originally fired for his actions in October, but has been working with AEW for months. Steel was reportedly on tap to work on Collision with CM Punk and others, but that was a miscommunication that occured during the TV upfronts.
