CM Punk Regrets AEW All Out Press Conference

CM Punk AEW Media Scrum

At the 2022 edition of All Out, CM Punk captured the AEW World Championship for the second time. Rather than being on top of the world, everything went rapidly downhill for him from there.

At the media scrum following the event, Punk infamously went on a rant that took aim at Colt Cabana, the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Hangman Adam Page.

Things then went further backstage, with Punk and The Elite getting into a brawl that also included his friend Ace Steel. The incident led to everyone involved being suspended and stripped of their championships, while an investigation was also launched.

CM Punk apologised for the All Out media scrum

In a new interview with ESPN, the Second City Saint has revealed that he sat down with AEW President Tony Khan to apologise for what happened at the scrum.

“The first thing I said to Tony when I sat down with him and spoke to him after it was, ‘Man, I’m really sorry I put you in that position'”

He went on to explain that he was “a very, very frustrated guy” going into the scrum as he felt nothing had been done about ongoing issues between him and Adam Page.

“I apologize for the scrum. But when you’ve watched that scrum, you’re looking at a very, very frustrated guy who had told people. That’s not the first time he heard all that. It’s not the first time lawyers were told all that.

“And I was just looking for something to be done and nothing got done. So, if you want something done right, you got to do it yourself.”

To compound matters, Punk was aware had just been injured again during his title match. However, he admitted he handled things the wrong way.

“And I just didn’t approach it in the right manner, but tension was high. I was very, very pissed. I pretty much knew that I had just injured myself again. I was hurt, and I was disappointed.

“Yeah, it’s very easy for me to say I regret that and I handled it the wrong way, 100%.”

While The Elite returned to action at Full Gear back in November, Punk’s status was less clear as he recovered from injury.

However, on the May 31st edition of Dynamite, Khan confirmed that he would be returning on June 17th on the debut episode of Collision.

There, he will team with FTR to take on Samoa Joe, Jay White, and Juice Robinson in the main event.
