Edge’s Removal From Roster Page “Premature,” Still With WWE

Edge remains with WWE.

On September 13th it was reported that Edge had been removed from WWE’s internal roster. This only added to speculation that he was AEW bound, and as expected, social media exploded.

However, things aren’t quite that straightforward. The initial report was followed by a clarification that Edge remains on the roster list, but is listed under “miscellaneous.”

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that removing Edge from the internal roster was “premature,” and he remains under WWE contract. Although, not for much longer.

“Edge was removed from the active roster and then put back on. We were told that pulling him from the roster page was premature, since he is still under contract. As he had noted, he has no more matches left on his contract which expires this month. As far as what happens, that remains to be seen.”

What Did Edge Say About WWE Status?

Following reports that he’d made a number of demands that caused negotiations with WWE to break down, Edge had his say in a video on social media. The WWE Hall of Famer denied claims he’d had some kind of fallout with WWE, revealing he’d got a contract offer from the company sat in his inbox.

The star said that far from deciding to leave WWE, he’s a long way from knowing what comes next.

Edge has made no secret of his desire to retire in Toronto and on the August 18th episode of SmackDown he wrestled in his hometown against Sheamus. Before and after the match the star admitted he may never wrestle again and doesn’t know what the future holds.
