Edge Comments On AEW Rumours And Relationship With WWE

Edge has hit back at speculation that his demands for a new WWE contract weren’t met.

On August 23rd it was reported that Edge was at a crossroads with WWE after making a series of demands during negotiations over a new contract. WWE was said to have balked at the demands and now believed that the Hall of Famer would be moving to AEW when his current deal expires in September.

However, that seemingly isn’t the case. In a short video posted on social media, the star addressed the reports and dismissed suggestions his relationship with WWE has become strained. Furthermore, he has a “contract extension sat in his inbox.”

“So I woke up to a bunch of voicemails, texts and everything from friends and family wondering what’s going on. So I thought I’d better address it.

There’s nothing going on, there’s no hard feelings between me and WWE. I love WWE. It’s my dream gig and all I ever wanted to do. I didn’t come at them with any crazy contract or anything, they didn’t deny me, I have a contract extension sat in my inbox. I just don’t know what to do.

You know, the first time I had to retire was forced, and this time the choice is in my lap and it’s a lot harder.

WWE gave me that night Friday night in Toronto and it was the best night of my career. A lot of people say you should retire and WrestleMania or this or that — Friday night was really special for me, and I don’t know if that can be topped to be perfectly honest.

If we think we can then great, but I need to sit with it, and just know that whatever it is that I do, whether it’s Percy Jackson — that’s coming out soon — or it’s wrestling or sitting in my rocking chair, it’s because I’m having fun and having fun and at this stage of my life that and raising my kids are the two most important things.”

Is Edge Retiring?

Edge has made no secret of his desire to retire in Toronto and on the August 18th episode of SmackDown he wrestled in his hometown against Sheamus. Before and after the match the star admitted he may never wrestle again and doesn’t know what the future holds.

The former World Champion has previously spoken about the toll wrestling takes on his body now that he’s approaching his 50th birthday.
