The Rock Is Not Slated For A Match At WrestleMania 40

Those expecting to see The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 are set to be disappointed.

With The Great One making his long-awaited return in September and Endeavor looking to make the biggest impact possible with the first Mania under their banner, Rock’s first major match in over a decade looked to be a high possibility. However, new information appears to indicate that this will not be the plan.

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, unlike last year in Hollywood the match has not been scheduled internally for Philadelphia, with the belief that as Rock turned down the offer last year the upcoming show looks even more unlikely. Additionally, with the Hollywood strikes likely to end in April, The Great One will be too busy with movie and TV projects to commit to a program for WrestleMania.

Unsurprisingly, it has been confirmed that if the match were to take place between Rock and Reigns and The Tribal Chief is still the holder of the Undisputed Championship, there are no plans for Rock to be the one to dethrone Reigns.

As always, plans could change depending on what The Rock wants to do. As mentioned in the Newsletter “If he [Rock] wants the spot I can’t believe WWE would turn him down.”

Could The Rock Return To WWE Soon?

With Mania looking increasingly in doubt due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes still yet to reach a conclusion, it has been speculated that due to nothing being filmed for the foreseeable future, there is a possibility that The Rock could make an appearance at Crown Jewel. Once again, as is the case with dealing with the biggest movie star in Hollywood, it is always down to whether Rock is available and wants to do it.

Looking to celebrate Halloween in style, The Rock chose a football icon as his inspiration.
