Becky Lynch Wins NXT Women’s Title

Becky Lynch wins the NXT Women's Title

Becky Lynch has defeated Tiffany Stratton to become the NXT Women’s Champion.

The match was made after a short rivalry that caught many by surprise and arrived from left field. Stratton mentioned Lynch in a promo and things escalated with the pair trading shots on Raw and social media.

This led to the Irish star announcing she would be heading to NXT to challenge Stratton for the gold.

Heading into the match on the September 12th episode of NXT, Lynch was flying high following her victory over Trish Stratus at Payback. However, The Man didn’t have things all her own way with Stratton proving why she’s one of the most highly-rated young stars in WWE.

It wasn’t long until the action spilled outside the ring, as the momentum swung back and forth. But in the end, it was Lynch who got the win after avoiding the Prettiest Moonsault Ever and responding with a Manhandle Slam. The win made Lynch the 6th female Grand Slam Champion in WWE.

Recently it was confirmed that Becky Lynch will defend her NXT Women’s Championship at NXT No Mercy.

Has Becky Lynch Been NXT Women’s Champion Before?

Becky Lynch’s match against Statton was the first time she’s wrestled in NXT since battling Rhea Ripley back in November 2019. In a surprising stat, especially for newer fans, this was also the first time that Lynch has ever been NXT Women’s Champion. Each of WWE’s Four Horsewomen has now accomplished the feat.

In total six women have hit the milestone including Lynch, who now joins Bayley, Asuka, Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, and Mercedes Mone on that exclusive list.

September 12th was a big day for Becky Lynch who also featured in the first promo package for the newly formed TKO Group made up of WWE and UFC.

42 days later Becky Lynch shockingly lost the NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc.
