Brian Pillman Jr Appears During NXT No Mercy

The arrival of Brian Pillman Jr continued to be teased during NXT No Mercy.

WWE teased the debut of the star on the 26th September 2023 edition of NXT, with a mysterious figure sitting in the dark watching tv clips that included footage of the Cincinatti Bengals training camp and Jim Ross welcoming viewers to WCW Saturday Night.

The clips were obvious references to former WCW star ‘Flyin’ Brian Pillman, who played American Football with his home town Bengals before embarking upon a career in professional wrestling.

He shot to stardom in WCW, both as a singles competitor and as part of the ‘Hollywood Blondes’ tag-team with Steve Austin.

After departing WCW he would appear briefly in ECW before a switch to WWE in 1996. He would go on to feud with Austin before aligning with The Hart Foundation in 1997.

Pillman tragically passed away from a heart attack aged just 35 years old in October 1997 on the eve of a bout scheduled with Dude Love at WWE In Your House: Badd Blood. The event, held at the Kiel Center in St Louis, Missouri, famously featured the debut of Kane.

In another vignette during NXT No Mercy, the figure was seen flicking through clips of second generation Superstars, including ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso, Charlotte Flair and Dominik Mysterio.

Whilst no official announcement has yet been made, signs clearly point to the imminent arrival of Pillman Jr, who was just four years of age at the time of his legendary Father’s untimely passing.

Recently USA Network released an article hyping up the debut of Brian Pillman Jr.

When Did Brian Pillman Jr. Leave AEW?

Brian Pillman Jr. departed AEW after his contract expired in July 2023. The star had joined the company four years earlier but became frustrated at a lack of television time.
