Brian Pillman Jr. is believed to have signed with WWE.

According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Brian Pillman Jr. has joined WWE. The report adds that Pillman Jr. is scheduled to be at the NXT taping on August 8th. There’s no word on whether he’ll be appearing on television.

The second-generation star has been linked with WWE ever since leaving AEW. Shortly after his contract with the AEW expired, Pillman Jr. was pictured training at the WWE Performance Center.

The news comes after it was reported Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net on July 23rd that a “deal was in place” to sign the star.

Pillman Jr.’s father Brian Pillman famously signed with WWE in 1996 after leaving WCW in highly controversial circumstances. The star was working for the company at the time of his untimely passing on October 5th, 1997.

Prior to departing AEW, Pillman Jr had been learning under the tutelage of current WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes.

In a 2020 interview with Sportskeeda, Pillman Jr would detail his mentorship with Rhodes revealing that he and ‘The American Nightmare’ had bonded over their shared status as multi-generation wrestlers with Rhodes offering Pillman Jr some crucial advice on stepping out of his fathers shadow.

In a further twist to the story, it appears that Pillman Jr. may not have signed a contract just yet.

Has Brian Pillman Jr. Been In WWE Before?

Despite his family connection to WWE, Pillman Jr. has never turned out for the company before. The star began training with Lance Storm in 2017 and went on to feature for MLW before signing with AEW in 2019.

During his time in AEW, Pillman Jr. regularly teamed with Griff Garrison as the Varsity Blonds but found screen time difficult to come by in recent months.

Prior to the deal being done, it was reported it was “only a matter of time” before Brian Pillman J.r joined WWE, given the company’s interest in him.
