“I Did The WarGames Thing But That Was Sh*t” – Sheamus Frustrated With WWE

Sheamus

Sheamus has called out WWE for their recent handling of his character.

Heading into Clash at the Castle in September 2022, Sheamus was flying high and took on Gunther as he attempted to win the Intercontinental Title — A championship he’s never held. The match was a stunningly-hard-hitting affair and was praised across the board by both fans and critics.

However, in the aftermath of the event, Sheamus seemingly lost his way a little despite tangling with The Bloodline at Survivor Series, in a match that was more about Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns. Despite this, he picked up momentum once more heading into WrestleMania 39 where he took on Gunther and Drew McIntyre. Again the Irish star lost and hasn’t locked into a major storyline since.

Speaking in a new interview with the Daily Star, Sheamus launched a scathing attack on WWE creative for failing to capitalise on his goodwill with fans and momentum over the last year. The former World Champion said he was fine with losing at Clash at the Castle but “upset” at the lack of direction after that.

He added that the same thing happened following WrestleMania 39, while he described Survivor Series WarGames as “sh*t.”

“I’m not upset about that at all,” he explained. “I felt it was great, it was just the type of character Sheamus is, all fists and elbows. What I was upset about and what really bothered me was the creative after that. I came out of that with so much organic momentum, and it was just wasted. It didn’t go anywhere.

It was a dead end, just like with WrestleMania. Drew went away because he was injured, but I was ready to go and then just nothing. There were no avenues and nowhere to go and that’s frustrating. I did the War Games thing [after Clash at the Castle] but that was s*** – that’s how I felt, though others might have felt differently.”

Has Sheamus Called Out WWE Before?

This isn’t the first time the Celtic Warrior has called out WWE in recent months either. Speaking in June, Sheamus took WWE to task for not doing more with the Brawling Brutes. He said that the group had more potential than they had ever been given chance to show.
