Top WWE Star Frustrated With Recent Booking

WWE star Gunther chops Sheamus

Sheamus and the Brawling Brutes have become a popular part of WWE SmackDown since the group came together in early 2022, however, the former World Champion believes more could have been done to showcase the faction.

Ridge Holland and Sheamus began teaming together in November 2021 and Butch was added to the mix five months later. Following a string of impressive matches the trio have become firm favourites on SmackDown, tangling with some of the biggest names that the blue brand has to offer.

Despite this, Sheamus believes that more could have been done. Speaking to Alistair McGeorge for The Metro, the Irish star said the stop/start nature of their booking had been frustrating. As an example, he pointed to the group’s storyline with Drew McIntyre heading into Survivor Series as a missed opportunity.

“I just don’t think they’ve really capitalized on the group, I don’t think they’ve really let us show what we can do. This stop/start stuff is really hard when you’re trying to highlight young talent. It’s frustrating, you know? So I dunno, maybe we’ll get an opportunity to show what we can really do as a group because a lot of those other groups who are out there now have definitely got an opportunity that we haven’t had to do some storyline stuff, some character stuff. That’s kinda been a shame, mate, to be honest, considering the talent that’s in there.”

Drew McIntyre Still Absent From WWE

Drew McIntyre hasn’t been seen in a WWE ring since competing against Gunther and Sheamust at WrestleMania 39. It has been reported that while the star retains a good relationship with the company he is yet to agree terms on a new contract, meaning he will become a free agent in 2024.

Although he remains away from WWE television, McIntyre recently represented WWE as an ambassador at the Special Olympics, while there have been internal talks about him appearing at Money In The Bank in London, England on July 1st.
