The third roster update for WWE 2K Battlegrounds has been revealed, with some of the names added no longer being associated with WWE – including recent AEW signee Sting!

As announced via the 2K Battlegrounds Twitter account, another 14 superstars will be added to the game’s already sizeable roster of 97. Amongst the more unsurprising additions of Ric Flair, Sami Zayn and Sheamus are Akam and Rezar of AOP – both of whom were released from the company in September – and WWE Hall Of Famer Sting, who debuted in AEW just two weeks ago!

All three will be added to the game between late-December and mid-January: Sting on December 23rd alongside Ric Flair, Sheamus, Montez Ford & a special Holiday Arena; Akam with Chad Gable on January 13th; and Rezar on January 20th with Fandango & ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper.

It should be noted that all three men were listed in a post-launch roster list upon the game’s release, though it was speculated that 2K would have taken advantage of their ‘subject to change’ notice to remove Sting from their latest WWE title after his signing with AEW. Surpringly, this is not the case and ‘The Stinger’ will still be added to the game despite his AEW affliation.

Sting, Akam and Rezar join several other stars who feature in WWE 2K Battlegrounds but are no longer under contract with WWE. These include Alicia Fox, Brock Lesnar, Erick Rowan, Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, Karl Anderson and Luke (now Doc) Gallows.
