Fans who are still expecting to see CM Punk live at All Out in Chicago will be disappointed.
The question of whether Punk would be at the event on September 3rd was asked to Tony Khan in the media call ahead of the pay-per-view. Khan stated that he couldn’t comment at this time but will provide more information when he can. Following the conclusion of the conference call, new information has come to light.
As reported by Haus of Wrestling, Punk and Khan have not spoken to each other directly since All In on August 27th, with information being relayed having to go through legal teams and other third parties. Therefore, the chances of hearing “Cult of Personality” at All Out remain very low. The report does state that there is a possibility that everything could be resolved by the time that the show is due to air, but the chances are incredibly slim.
What Was CM Punk Going To Be Doing At All Out?
While not officially announced for a match, it was a near certainty that The Best in the World would have been on the card in his home town 2 years after his first match with AEW. It has since been reported that the plan for Punk at All Out was for him to reignite his rivalry with Ricky Starks at the event.
With Punk currently suspended, Starks looked to be without an opponent for the event. However, creative seems to have found a backup plan for the Owen Hart Cup winner. Following a disagreement on an episode of Collision, Starks looks to challenge Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat to a match in Chicago.
