Orange Cassidy is beloved by fans around the world, and he has another fan in Blackpool Combat Club’s Claudio Castagnoli.
Speaking in a new interview with Sporf, Castagnoli praised Cassidy’s work in AEW, saying that the star is top tier when it comes to his style of performance.
“I think he’s come a really long way and I think people kind of see it for what he is now. He’s just a modern version of a classic good guy, you know? And he is obviously really, really good at what he does.”

Orange Cassidy holds the AEW record for most consecutive title defenses, having defended his International Title frequently before losing it to Jon Moxley at AEW All Out. Continuing in his interview, Castagnoli praised the match between Moxley and Cassidy.
“To see that match with him and Jon after, you know, he defended that International Title for so long and put it onto a level that the fans would accept it to main event the pay-per-view, no questions asked. Then, of course, you know, Jon was Jon. He’s just awesome. And it was a really fun match to watch.”
Cassidy regained the International Title on the special Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite on October 10th, winning the belt from Rey Fenix. Fenix is reportedly dealing with visa issues that will keep him out of action, and was never supposed to win the championship in the first place, but Moxley’s injury during their match on September 20th caused a mid-match change to be made.
