Bryan Danielson Not Expected Back Until October

Bryan Danielson will miss AEW Grand Slam in September.

At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Bryan Danielson met Kazuchika Okada in a dream match for the ages but things didn’t quite go to plan. The American Dragon suffered a broken arm in the contest, but wrestled to the scheduled finish — or at least a variation — anyway.

After the match, Danielson confirmed he suffered the injury and recently revealed that he underwent surgery to insert a steel rod and nine screws into his forearm.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Danielson was originally told he would be out of the ring for three months. This means he’ll miss All In, All Out, and Grand Slam in September.

“Bryan Danielson got his surgery for his broken arm on 7/3 and that the time was told three months before he could return, although it’s possible he could beat that by a week or two. All In and All Out are out, Wrestle Grand Slam doesn’t look good but I don’t want to say impossible, but he should be back in October.”

Danielson has been keeping himself busy during his recovery. He recently took part in an interview where he said about the Blackpool Combat Club: “I love this group. This should be a group that never breaks up.”

Bryan Danielson also discussed the impact of Wheeler Yuta on the Blackpool Combat Club recently.

Does Bryan Danielson Work Behind The Scenes?

Although Danielson can’t contribute in the ring, that doesn’t mean that his influence in AEW isn’t being felt. In recent months it’s been reported that the former WWE star has become a key part of creative, and is working closely with Tony Khan on Rampage and Collision.

Furthermore, Bryan Danielson has been praised for his work in this area.
